A leading international engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Skien. The business delivers complex design and build projects across the UK and Europe, specialising in the data centre, pharmaceutical, logistics, food and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The Role

The Setting Out Engineer will be responsible for the accurate setting out, measurement and surveying of construction works. You will ensure that all works comply with project drawings, specifications and tolerances, while supporting the wider site team in delivering the project safely, accurately and on programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out, levelling and surveying activities.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and design information.
• Establish and maintain control points and benchmarks.
• Verify dimensions, coordinates and levels of completed works.
• Record and maintain accurate survey data and as-built information.
• Coordinate setting out requirements with engineers, subcontractors and site teams.
• Provide technical support for layout checks and quality control.
• Ensure surveying equipment is maintained, calibrated and reliable.
• Support the preparation of ITPs, inspection records and quality documentation.
• Ensure work complies with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Support the achievement of key construction milestones and programme targets.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer or Site Engineer.
• Strong proficiency with Total Stations, GPS and laser-level equipment.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and tolerances.
• Experience maintaining survey records and as-built documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Good communication, organisation and coordination skills.
• Ability to perform effectively within a fast-paced site environment.
• Knowledge of construction health, safety and environmental standards.
