This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading international technical engineering and construction partner focussed on design and build contracts for end user clients, specialising in the Data Centre sector.
About the role:
Lead the end-to-end design process from post-concept through detailed design, construction and design integration, ensuring all deliverables meet programme and contractual requirements.
Manage multidisciplinary design coordination, integrating architectural, structural, MEP, specialist consultant and subcontractor packages into a fully coordinated design.
Lead and manage the design team, including resource planning, workload allocation, performance management, coaching and mentoring.
Manage external stakeholders and consultants, including architects, specialist planners, Prüfstatiker and relevant authorities, as well as procurement and appointment of external design services.
Ensure technical and regulatory compliance, confirming designs meet applicable codes, standards, Building Regulations, authority requirements and project specifications.
Own BIM and design coordination processes, including Revit model reviews, clash detection workshops and resolution of design conflicts before they impact construction.
Control design programme and information flow, maintaining the Design Delivery Programme, Design Tracker, RFI Tracker and Change Control process while identifying and removing delivery blockers.
Support successful construction delivery, chairing design workshops and coordination meetings, optimising designs for buildability and ensuring the execution team receives accurate, coordinated and timely design information.
About you:
Relevant technical qualification – Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or a comparable discipline; professional registration/licence advantageous.
5–8 years’ relevant experience in design management, architectural project leadership or multidisciplinary design coordination, ideally on large-scale, technically complex construction projects.
Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience, managing design deliverables across architects, engineers, specialist consultants, subcontractors and external authorities.
Strong technical and regulatory knowledge, including relevant building codes, standards, compliance requirements and management of detailed design documentation.
BIM and digital design capability, with experience of BIM processes, Revit model reviews, CAD coordination and clash detection/resolution.
Design management and project controls experience, including design programmes, RFIs, change control, design trackers, tender processes and management of specifications and schedules.
Strong leadership and resource management skills, with experience leading design teams, planning resources, reporting to senior project leadership and coaching or mentoring junior team members.
Excellent stakeholder and problem-solving skills, capable of leading design workshops, managing clients, consultants and authorities, and proactively resolving design, coordination and supply-chain blockers.
