Our client is a leading international engineering and construction contractor delivering complex design-and-build projects across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. The business operates within the data centre, pharmaceutical, logistics, food and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The Role

An experienced Senior Planner is required to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Skien. Working closely with the project leadership team, you will develop and manage the project programme, monitor progress and provide clear reporting on schedule performance, risks and mitigation measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed baseline and master programmes using Primavera P6.
  • Prepare tender, construction, target and recovery programmes.
  • Incorporate cost and resource loading into project schedules.
  • Produce manpower histograms, KPIs, SPI/CPI analysis, S-curves and cash-flow forecasts.
  • Update programmes weekly and identify potential delays, risks and corrective actions.
  • Undertake critical path, float and schedule risk analysis.
  • Track design, procurement, construction and long-lead activities.
  • Review and challenge subcontractor programmes.
  • Prepare short-term look-ahead schedules and construction plans.
  • Assess the programme impact of project changes.
  • Prepare Time Impact Analyses and support Extension of Time claims.
  • Apply Earned Value Management to monitor project performance.
  • Produce weekly and monthly progress reports for the client and senior management.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
  • Attend progress and planning meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior planners and support continuous improvement across the planning function.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong experience in construction planning and scheduling, ideally on large-scale or technically complex projects.
  • Advanced Primavera P6 skills, with knowledge of MS Project beneficial.
  • Experience developing and maintaining detailed construction programmes.
  • Good understanding of WBS structures, critical path analysis, EVM and schedule risk.
  • Ability to assess contractor programmes, manage change and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Strong reporting, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Data centre experience is highly advantageous.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • Proactive, organised and able to operate effectively within a fast-paced project environment.
