Capstone is partnering with a leading independent construction and property consultancy to appoint a Senior Cost Manager within its established New York office.

With an impressive portfolio of projects across New York and a strong pipeline of future work, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cost Manager or Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of complex assignments, work directly with leading clients and contribute to the continued growth of the team.

The Role

As Senior Cost Manager, you will provide comprehensive cost management services across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage estimating and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account.

You will manage your own projects, build trusted client relationships and support the development of junior team members.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed estimates, cost plans and project budgets
• Managing procurement, tendering and contractor bid evaluations
• Producing cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow projections
• Reviewing change orders, valuations and payment applications
• Supporting contract administration and commercial negotiations
• Identifying cost risks and advising clients on mitigation strategies
• Managing projects through to final account and closeout
• Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors
• Mentoring junior cost management professionals
• Supporting business development and contributing to the growth of the New York office

Skills and Experience

• Degree qualified, ideally in quantity surveying, construction management, engineering or a related discipline
• Strong pre- and post-contract cost management experience
• Experience working within the US construction market
• Proven delivery of large, complex and multimillion-dollar construction projects
• Consultancy or owner’s representative experience is strongly preferred
• Strong estimating, cost planning, procurement and change-management capabilities
• Ability to manage projects independently and produce accurate, high-quality work
• Commercially aware, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Confident working directly with senior clients and project stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• MRICS, RICS or an equivalent professional qualification would be advantageous
