Position: Data Centre Engineering Manager - Nordics

Salary: Up to £120,000 plus bonus + benefits 

Location: London, including frequent travel to the Nordic region 

This is an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join a growing data centre developer, building data centres powered by sustainable energy, innovating the way digital infrastructure supports high performance computing.

As the Engineering Manager, you will lead the design and engineering of multiple concurrent data centre projects. You’ll implement Design & Engineering standards, and manage deliverables against project expectations.

This is a senior role within the Engineering team, reporting to the Head of Design & Product Development.

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a physical sciences.
• 5+ years’ experience in a hands-on design role (e.g. performing calculations, authoring specifications and drawing sets as a consultant, or as an in-house engineer for a design build contractor).
• 3+ years in a project delivery capacity (e.g. accountable for managing a schedule of deliverables for technically complex projects).
• Excellence in bringing a team together to deliver.
• Subject matter expertise in at least one Data Center related technical discipline (e.g. electrical distribution, critical cooling, mission critical controls).
• Comfort and familiarity with directing all other technical disciplines and holding individual engineers to account, including general building services engineering.
• Comfort in managing a budget, financial acumen to liaise with finance and to drive cost effectiveness from the professional services supply chain.

About the role 

• Apply the Project Engineering Strategy at all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Manage test-fit exercises, applying the reference design and any site specific constraints to maximise yield. Technical contributions to permitting matrices, path to power, connectivity and other key technical deliverables.
• Responsible technical land due diligence and permit design deliverables set and driving the team toward a fully compliant design.
• Incorporating market and buildability constraints with an emphasis on value engineering and predictable delivery.
• Inspection of installations against the Plan of Record in partnership with the development team, acting as technical point of contact.
• Review scripts to ensure they adequately describe commissioning activities which demonstrate system design objectives.
• Verify as-builts and all technical documentation adequately describes the facility in a manner that Operations can guarantee uptime.
• Direct and oversee Professional Consultants (Architects, Engineers), Equipment Supplier technical teams and specialist contractor technical teams.
• Appoint specialist consultants or suppliers as necessary to achieve specified deliverables.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships (Suppliers, Consultants, Engineers, Architects) to maintain cost-effective services for projects.
• Ensure project engineering reports and progress aligns with Engineering overarching requirements.
• Present the design, design deviations, value engineering report and quality assurance report at the conclusion of each stage gate.
