We are seeking a Development Director to help lead the development of large-scale, iconic residential projects across the UK. This is a rare opportunity to join a dynamic, privately funded property development firm, uniquely positioned at the forefront of the Build-to-Rent (BTR) sector.

The Opportunity

This leadership role offers the chance to oversee the development of landmark urban developments, including 30- to 50-storey towers in prime city locations. With a substantial equity-funded pipeline, this is your opportunity to be part of something transformative in the UK real estate landscape.

You will take ownership of specific development projects, reporting directly to the Board, as well as the other members of the Development Management Committee and you will become a key member of the company’s professional team alongside fellow Directors. This role demands planning and development expertise, commercial acumen, and a hands-on leadership style to ensure the timely, high-quality delivery of high-value projects.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead planning applications and coordinate cost planning with the external consultants.

•Coordinate a multi-disciplinary team of consultants and manage scheme delivery within agreed budgets and schedules.

•Oversee development – liaising with the various internal and external teams to ensure schemes are delivered on time, and to a high quality. This will include oversight of the development budget, partnering closely with the finance team and project directors, ensuring any issues are managed and escalated appropriately.

•Implement best-in-class value engineering strategies, taking an entrepreneurial approach to identify cost savings and innovative construction solutions

•Contribute to acquisitions, actively participating in discussions about new project opportunities and providing technical insights.

•Act as a senior leader within the senior management team, embracing a hands-on role with direct involvement in all key decisions.

•Foster collaboration across the team, contributing to a culture where ideas and input are valued from all levels of the business.

The Ideal Candidate

•Significant development experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-rise residential towers

•Proven track record managing end-to-end development projects in a developer environment.

•Excellent commercial awareness, with the ability to link design and build decisions to financial appraisals and investor returns.

•Deep experience across the development lifecycle, from planning and design through to handover.

•A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to manage relationships with stakeholders and navigate board-level decision-making.

Sector expertise: Experience in Build-to-Rent (BTR), PBSA, hotels, or Build-to-Sell is highly desirable.
