Grid Connection Manager – Data Centre Projects (Finland)
Location: Finland (preferred) | UK / Europe considered with Finland experience
Travel: Regular travel to Finland (sites, utilities, stakeholders)

The Role
Seeking a Grid Connection Manager to support the delivery of hyperscale and large-scale data centre developments across Finland.
This role will be critical in securing, managing, and delivering grid connections to enable construction and operation of mission-critical infrastructure. You will act as the key interface between developers, contractors, and grid operators, ensuring power is delivered on time, within budget, and aligned to programme milestones.
Key Responsibilities
Grid Strategy & Delivery
Lead the end-to-end grid connection process from early feasibility through to energisation
Develop and manage grid connection strategies aligned with project timelines
Support site selection with power availability assessments and due diligence
Manage capacity applications, connection agreements, and technical compliance
Stakeholder & Utility Interface
Act as the primary interface with TSOs / DSOs (e.g. Fingrid and local operators)
Lead negotiations on connection agreements, timelines, and technical solutions
Coordinate with ICPs, designers, and contractors for delivery of grid infrastructure
Project Integration
Work closely with development, design, and construction teams to align grid delivery with build programmes
Provide technical input into substation design, routing, and connection solutions
Support procurement of consultants, contractors, and utility partners
Commercial & Risk Management
Manage budgets related to grid connection scope, including utility costs and infrastructure works
Identify and mitigate risks related to grid constraints, delays, and regulatory challenges
Drive optimisation of cost, programme, and technical solutions
Regulatory & Compliance
Navigate Finnish regulatory frameworks, permits, and approvals for grid connections
Ensure compliance with all technical, environmental, and legal requirements
Candidate Profile
Essential Experience:
Proven experience managing grid connections for large-scale infrastructure projects (data centres, renewables, or similar)
Strong understanding of transmission and distribution networks, grid capacity, and connection processes
Experience working with grid operators in Finland (highly desirable)
Track record delivering grid connections through development and construction phases
Technical & Commercial Skills:
Knowledge of -
Grid connection agreements and permitting
Substation and HV infrastructure (e.g. 110kV / 220kV+)
Programme and cost management
Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and negotiations
Personal Attributes:
Strong communicator with ability to influence senior stakeholders
Proactive, solutions-oriented, and commercially aware
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth data centre environment
Willingness to travel regularly to Finland
Location & Flexibility:
Preferred: Finland-based
Also considered: UK or Europe-based candidates with strong Finland project experience
Regular travel to Finland required for site visits, utility meetings, and project delivery
