A world class Property Developer with a track record of developing and operating Data Centre's globally, backed by a major investment management firm is recruiting a Project Director to oversee the project management including design, construction, occupancy, quality control, project resourcing and budget management for a portfolio of data centre projects.


Reports to the Delivery Director (Construction).

Core Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the management and safe delivery of data centre projects
  • Key client management throughout the various project stages during the development of new data centre
  • Involvement in the development of new project site business case
  • Accountable for the commercial, financial and administration management of the construction of data centre project
  • Monitoring of and monthly reporting on the project's cash flow
  • Ensure a robust process of notification or escalation is in place to report on both underspend and potential overspend with the appropriate approvals sought for either situation
  • Establishment of external and internal project team
  • Build and lead high performing, multi-disciplined team
  • Co-ordination of consultants, contractors and services assigned to the project
  • Oversee the preparation of risk registers and management of the mitigation/ management strategy
  • Facilitation of anchor workshops and management of outcomes including; communication strategies, stakeholder mapping, project execution plan (PEP) and project initiation document (PID)
  • Preparation of outline and development brief/PID, ensuring it is kept up to date and accurate as per the customer requirements throughout the life of the project
  • Responsible for the approval of professional services teams' scope definition and management
  • Recommends and initiates change to project delivery plans
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate development and presentation of Programme Board reporting pack
  • Supports the Design Manager in driving design development for the project
  • Responsible for all planning activities and deliverables to planning approval and close out of any associated conditions
  • Management of the timely delivery of power capacity and critical plant procurement
  • Resolve disputes and claims when required
  • Identify new and innovative ways in the design, build and development of data centres
  • Preparation and delivery of management reporting for progress of projects and associated risks to the Company and Investors
  • Project programme schedule management with the Project Planner - development, assessment, interpretation and on-going management and updating thereof
  • Responsible for the interrogation of the contractor's project programme, managing/ reviewing weekly progress updates with the Construction Manager and Project Planner

Team Management Responsibilities

  • Manage the external project team's performance
  • Coordinates the internal stakeholders for an individual (or specific?) project

Knowledge and Skills

  • Able to lead negotiations with third parties
  • Knowledge of the design, building and MEP processes
  • Excellent written communication skills, clear and concise
  • Up to date with key industry/professional trends
  • Understand different types of construction contracts
  • Key account/client management
  • Track record of team management and leadership
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in Microsoft Projects

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualified, with experience in delivering technical projects - Essential
  • Project Management certification
  • HSE qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH)
  • Minimum 10 years PM experience in critical services construction projects
  • Chartered status
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering complex engineering/infrastructure/ construction projects in an international environment - Desirable
  • Remote working/Working from home (WFH) initially but with the capability to commute to London for meetings
  • Driver's license
  • International travel requirement
