Rob Joslin is a Founder & Director of Capstone. Based in London he is responsible for the Development & Project Management team in the UK; a sector where he is firmly established with over 12 years’ experience. Rob now focuses on senior level retained search assignments for leading consultants, developers, investors and funds.  

Upon graduation from Oxford Brookes University he spent a year in the property industry before joining a large real estate recruitment company. He worked closely with the owners, Dominic Judd & Mark Farris, who later became Capstone’s non-executive directors. This experience gave him the appetite to co-found Capstone, and develop a dynamic real estate recruitment offering lacking after the recession in 2008. He hasn’t looked back since.   

Rob feels one of the positives about being a Director at Capstone is working with his team; developing & mentoring consultants, from all walks of life, to be the best they can be. If Rob isn’t in one of London’s meeting rooms interviewing candidates or out of the office meeting clients, you will hear him leading from the front on the sales floor.

Position: Project Director Location: Venice, Italy Salary: €150,000 to €200,000 plus bonus & benefits Capstone are recruiting a Project Director to be based in Venice (Italy) for an international property developer with a healthy pipeline of luxury hospitality and high-rise residential developments globally. We are seeking a Project or Construction Director of the highest caliber to deliver a luxury 5* hotel development. About you The successful candidate will have seasoned construction experience in Italy having led luxury hospitality and or high-rise luxury residential projects for either an international consultancy, general contractor, or developer. This individual must have experience in the management of large teams based throughout Europe, be versed in construction permitting processes and have managed construction works for both new build and restoration projects. At least 15 years construction experience, preferably with experience in the Italian construction market Experience working with or for a developer or hotel owner-operator would be beneficial but not essential Track record in creating, managing, and leading high performing teams to successful outcomes Proven ability in collaborating with project partners and internal stakeholders Active in the deployment of best-in-class management systems and processes Exceptional communicator Fluent in English & Italian (preferable) About the role To lead and manage the entire development team for the project including internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, suppliers, lawyers, and planners To lead, manage and be responsible to the Owner for the development of design, cost planning and budget, schedule/programme, procurement activities, construction, and delivery of the project through to completion and operation To critically review design and tender documentation prior to procurement to ensure documents are complete and satisfactory for fixed price lump sum mechanism To oversee and lead all procurement and tendering activities including contract negotiations for consultants, contractors, and suppliers To oversee all construction works onsite ensuring change control process is strictly adhered to To oversee and manage the implementation of all construction contracts including successful settlement of final accounts and any resulting claims To ensure contractors and consultants are complying with procedures as stipulated in the building and construction permits To support project company and hotel management company in the securing of all necessary licenses/permits for the hotel development To ensure a robust quality assurance scheme is developed To drive exceptional performance from consultant and contractor To oversee and manage the development team in the identification of risks and the implementation of mitigation strategies To keep all internal stakeholders and partners routinely informed of progress To control and manage meetings effectively How to apply Please contact Rob Joslin (Director) to discuss this exciting role in more detail on +44 (0) 203 757 5000 or email Transparency Notice to Prospective Candidates We process certain personal information about you for our legitimate business interests in order to identify and contact suitable candidates about positions that may be relevant to them.
