Position: Senior Project Manager

Location: London/South East

Salary: £65,000 to £70,000 plus bonus & benefits

An award-winning international employee-owned multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy are the lead Project Management advisors on one of the UKs largest health science campuses. A major new build and refurbishment of an existing site based in the South East of England. The project is of international, as well as national importance, with major complexities across its life cycle. An experienced Senior Project Manager is critical to the scheme to ensure a smooth project delivery from design through to construction delivery. The project is at RIBA stage 2 and contractors are appointed. There are enabling works underway, but the focus of the role will be design until constructions starts in approximately 12 months' time.

Role & responsibilities

  • Manage the project team to meet defined objectives
  • Motivate and organise the team
  • Identify stakeholders and manage their influence on the project
  • Keep clients regularly appraised and report to board level
  • Set overall project programme for each major phase of work
  • Work with specialist planners to produce a master programme
  • Interrogate construction schedules, and identify opportunities for acceleration and improved efficiency
  • Manage the design team, review design programme and support client review
  • Manage all value engineering exercises
  • Manage the cost related processes, procurements exercises & processes and work collaboratively with cost managers and contractor teams
  • Monitor contract progress against programme, compliance and administer construction

About you

  • A construction related background and training
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience of solving complex issues on major construction projects which are heavily serviced (hospitals, laboratories, data centres etc)
  • Experience of design, procurement, and construction phases
  • Experience of package procurement
  • Experience of administering contracts (NEC/ECC)
  • Experience of working with tier 1 contractors
