Position: Development Manager (Client-Side Global Retailer)

Location: Remote working with frequent UK travel

Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 plus excellent bonus & benefits

At the heart of the operation is real estate and we are recruiting their Development Manager to deliver new store, major refurbishments, re branding and extension projects from Capex approval stage to retail handover.

About you

This person will be able to lead a team of external consultants and contractors. They should have European and extensive Retail experience of all types of projects from clean developer shells through to listed, historic buildings. This is a fast-paced environment and an ability to persuade senior stakeholders and control projects is crucial to be considered.

  • A Qualification in Architecture or Project/Construction Management, and 3+ years of experience in Retail Project/Construction Management or suitable vocational experience
  • An in-depth experience of projects exceeding £1m
  • Sound knowledge of legal and contractual frameworks
  • Experience of all construction stages of the design process from conception through to delivery
  • Detailed experience of Retail Construction coupled with good understanding of Building Regulations and Compliance
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural drawings and specifications for construction document production
  • Must have a high level of financial appraisal skill
  • Knowledge of shop-fit standards, details, and construction
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and trouble shoot during a project
  • Strong leadership skills with a can-do attitude and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to build, mentor and develop a high performing external team
  • Must be able to work well under tight deadlines and able to reprioritise efficiently
  • Self-starter able to work under own initiative
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have a critical eye for detail
  • Ability to travel globally when required
  • Great interpersonal skills

About the role

  • Develop and maintain a team of pre-qualified partners
  • Assign appropriate design teams to projects
  • Work closely with Senior Development Managers and Head of Project Management to select the appropriate Contracts and Tender process
  • Manage Construction Stage Capex from Approval Stage to Final Account
  • Responsible for the health and safety of all construction activity
  • Ensure the Frasers Retail Brand DNA is protected; strive to constantly improve the process and quality
  • Manage relationships with external partners as required
  • Interface with Head of Project Management and Procurement Teams to ensure strategies meet the pipeline requirement
  • Communicate monthly programme update via Flash Reports
  • Championing the use of best practices, accuracy of construction documents and technical discipline
  • Ensure Mechanical, Electrical and Sprinkler specifications are maintained as necessary
  • Utilise and improve Airtable, BIM360 and Multivista tools
  • Conduct annual KPI reviews on key external partners
