Position: Assistant Development Manager

Location: Manchester

Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 plus bonus & benefits

A leading provider of purpose-built student accommodation in the UK are recruiting an Assistant Development Manager to be based in Manchester working closely with the Development Managers and the Asset Management team to assist with further expansion across the existing estate, acquisitions, and new build properties.

The role

This is a nationwide role based in the Manchester office, extensive travel will be required throughout the UK.

  • Provide early-stage advice to the asset management team
  • Assist in processes to obtain and review information on prospective new sites through technical due diligence
  • Support the process to obtain consents and review costs
  • Support to build and maintain cost plans for projects, modelling cash flows to each project
  • Support the building and management of external teams to deliver all stages of projects
  • Support DMs as required to ensure efficient communication with Developers forward funded projects
  • Support process to obtain all necessary internal stakeholder consents
  • Support continual improvement in quality and cost with respect to design and delivery
  • Manage project risks
  • Ensure information flows are maintained with regular internal reporting
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of contract and construction methodologies

About you

You will have the ability to work in a dynamic rea estate and asset management environment and be commercially focused.

  • Strong project management skills related to internal and external teams across multiple sites
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of dealing with complex maters across multiple parties
  • Real estate or construction degree
  • Membership to a professional body, not essential
  • Have a good knowledge of UK planning processes, CDM regulations and building regulations
  • An ability to interpret complex written and financial data
  • Good technical knowledge of procurement methods, plans, specifications, and programmes
  • Analytical & highly numerate
  • Ability to multitask and manage conflicting parties
