Energy & Sustainability Manager, EMEA

Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 per annum + Car Allowance + Bonus

Location: London (hybrid working)

Capstone have partnered with a market leading, global real estate consultancy, who are looking to recruit an exceptional Energy & Sustainability Manager, EMEA. The purpose of this position is to support the implementation of energy and sustainability initiatives for an assigned site/region/account. Analyze energy and water conservation measures and identify and implement cost reduction opportunities. This role will work with their clients, dedicated client account teams, and this organisation leadership to identify, develop, and secure approval for energy and sustainability solutions to achieve desired outcomes for our client portfolios.

The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical skills, client management, energy efficiency, and sustainability subject matter expertise. They will be a proven self-starter with the ability to turn loosely defined opportunities into compelling business cases and solutions, as well as a leader within the field of energy management and a valuable consultant to colleagues and clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform energy & sustainability assessments (both on-site and remote) for client portfolios and develop impactful and scalable energy and carbon reduction initiatives. Ability to leverage network of contractors/suppliers/vendors in support of conducting site audits and calculating of project/energy financials. Ability to calculate energy savings associated with Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and Water Conversation Measures (WCMs), Return on Investment (ROI) with estimated capital investments required.

Perform decarbonization and sustainability assessments to evaluate existing portfolio's sustainability performance using methods such as carbon footprinting, etc., and identify sustainability roadmaps and strategies to achieve targets such as Net Zero, Carbon Neutrality, etc. Familiar with sustainability principles and frameworks such as UNGC, CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD, etc. Familiarity with water optimization initiatives and waste management to increase recycling percentages.

Manage utility bill data collection activities. Perform variance analysis and bill gap analysis. Ensure data accuracy and completeness. Coordinate utility data uploads for emissions reporting. Review and understand utility rates and include this data in reporting as appropriate. Maintain, review, and analyze utility bill data. Monitor and report on energy use bill gap analysis and spending trends.

Energy Procurement: oversee energy procurement activities for EMEA region including electricity and natural gas supply contracts. Track and maintain utility contracts. Work with suppliers and third-party consultants in producing cost effective energy procurement proposals. Assist in executing energy supply contracts with clients.

Work with account Facility Management and Project Management Teams to provide energy and sustainability related inputs to preventative maintenance and engineering procedures as directed.

Function as an energy and subject matter expert for client account teams and account-dedicated Energy and Sustainability Managers. Support these teams in the evaluation and development of innovative initiatives and technologies. Coordinate with client account teams and other CBRE teams to achieve business case approvals and provide support to Project Management teams on project implementation.

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university, Master's degree preferred. Preferred fields of study in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC. Minimum of (3) three years of related experience and/or training.


CEM accreditation preferred or other Green Building certification. HVAC or other MEP disciplines Registered Engineer license is plus.


Carbon footprint reporting experience or training preferred. Training and accreditation part of development and performance management requirements.
