Role Overview:

Capstone have partnered with a leading, international luxury real estate consultancy, who are looking to recruit a Financial Controller on a fixed-term basis. The Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in contributing to the company's financial strategy by implementing best practices, ensuring quality financial reporting, and providing insightful and accurate financial information to all key stakeholders. This position will oversee the day-to-day financial operations, provide leadership to the finance team, and ensure effective financial controls and compliance across all entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial and Accounting Operations: Oversee the day-to-day financial and accounting operations across the Company and Group entities, ensuring effective and efficient financial management.
  • Reporting: Prepare and ensure timely availability of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Board, enabling informed and strategic decision-making.
  • Financial Controls & Compliance: Ensure robust financial controls, processes, and procedures are implemented and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Funding and Budgeting:
    • Manage quarterly funding requests across the company and client group entities for all project and property-related expenses.
    • Support the Finance Director in budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring performance against financial budgets and forecasts.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and manage a finance team of [currently 4 qualified accountants, 1 part-qualified accountant, and 3 trainees], ensuring they deliver the highest standard of financial services.
    • Foster continuous education, professional development, and mentorship for team members to promote growth and improvement.
  • Cash & Working Capital Management:
    • Forecast and manage cash flows and working capital positions across international entities, ensuring financial stability.
    • Monitor and mitigate currency risks.
  • Strategic Finance Support:
    • Collaborate with the Finance Director to develop and implement a financial strategy that drives efficiency, reduces risks, and supports the company's international operations.
    • Challenge business units to maintain high financial and commercial discipline.
  • Process Improvement: Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement opportunities for financial and operational efficiencies.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure full compliance with local accounting, tax, and legal regulations.
    • Work with external consultants as necessary to meet international compliance standards.
  • Risk Management & Insurance: De-risk the company's financial position by managing effective risk strategies and procuring corporate insurance.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and developing new finance team members as needed.
  • Record Keeping: Ensure best practice record-keeping, including the accurate use and regular updating of electronic documents and email systems.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Education & Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
    • Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in financial control, preferably in a multinational environment.
    • Proven experience in managing a finance team and international financial operations.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
    • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Leadership & Management:
    • Strong leadership and people management skills.
    • Experience in mentoring and developing finance professionals.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Ability to analyse complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
    • Experience in cash flow forecasting, budget management, and financial modelling.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
